2007 NRRRS CHAMPION HIGH POINT ROPER

Matt Moran custom-made the saddle given as the High Point Award at the 2007 NRRRS Finals, and a beautiful job he did! It was on display at the Buckaroo Businesses for the past several weeks, and those folks who saw it couldn’t help but run their hands over the tooling in order to feel the craftsmanship and the good quality leather.

Then to top it off, Todd Hansen fashioned an exquisite sterling silver concho for the breast collar, making the outfit one that anybody would be proud to put on their cayuse!!!

It was a close contest, and we had to keep score right up to the last run of the Finals, but when it finally came to the end, one man stood out above the others.

Dick Grosskopf came in third with 1822 points.

Marty HeDoesIt came in second with 2402 points.

And the winner….Scott Grosskopf, with a whopping 2959 points!!!

Scott is an experienced buckaroo, who cowboyed for a living for several years in Oregon for some of the large ranches there. He and his wife Staci also ran a feed store near Paisley, starting with just a few bags of feed in the back room, both working hard to make ends meet. They had a small hotel on the side that they renovated into a beautiful homelike atmosphere with natural wood and decor, which they eventually sold to move here to be close to his dad. Presently, he and Staci, with the help of their young son Sterling, run Buckaroo Businesses in east Billings, where they sell just about anything you might want in buckaroo gear. They have conchos, jewelry, saddle blankets, ropes & lariats, (guaranteed to work!!!) hondos, cd’s, spurs, bits, wild rags, bridles, chinks, everyday AND special gear for horses and for people! You can check them out on the web at www.buckaroobusinesses.net.

Scott is also a licensed realtor, and works through Landmark Realtors along with his dad, Dick Grosskopf.

An accomplished roper, Scott has traveled fairly extensively to give roping clinics, and has also participated in the Californios. He is current president of the NRRRS, and follows in his dad’s footsteps in leading it as it grows.
